DUJSAS (Duke Undergraduate Journal of South Asian Studies) Released!

The Duke Undergraduate Journal of South Asian Studies (DUJSAS) is the first printed national forum for undergraduate research in South Asian studies.

DUJSAS was spearheaded by Diya, Duke's South Asian student association, and the North Carolina Consortium for South Asian Studies (NCCSAS), a collaborative academic initiative between faculty from NCSU, UNC, and Duke. DUJSAS aims not only to showcase excellent research and to edify, but also to encourage other undergraduates to pursue research opportunities in the burgeoning field of South Asian studies.

As Duke looks to increase its involvement in the Indian subcontinent, initiatives like DUJSAS are crucial to highlighting and encouraging new efforts to understand the region's culture, history, politics, religion, and economics. The inaugural issue of DUJSAS, which features submissions from Yale, Rice, UVa, Wisconsin, and Duke, is testament to how widespread and robust undergraduate research on South Asia is. South Asian studies at Duke -- and across the country -- can only grow from here, and DUJSAS is excited to be a part of that growth.
