South Asian Summer Language Institute (SASLI)
NCCSAS collaborates in US Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center sponsored summer intensive language program at the University of Wisconsin http://www.wisc.edu/sasli/.The NCCSAS and the other US Department of Education's Title VI National Resource Centers for the Study of South Asia sponsor an intensive South Asian summer Language Institute for first, second, and third year instruction in the Less Commonly Taught Languages. First Year languages taught are Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Tibetan, and Urdu; Second Year Languages taught are Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, Tibetan, and Urdu; Third Year languages taught are Nepali and Tibetan. NCCSAS collaborates in US Department of Education Title VI Language Resource Center for South Asia located at the University of Chicago: http://salrc.uchicago.edu/The NCCSAS is a collaborator in the US Department of Education's Title VI Language Resource Center for South Asia based at the University of Chicago. This center focuses on collaborative research on issues of language pedagogy, compiling existing resources for the less commonly taught languages (LCTLs) and the almost never taught languages (ANTLs), developing digital tools for language pedagogy and language-based research, and creation of tests for assessment of language proficiency.
